Formed at the start of 2018, The Bagatelles are a local Derbyshire Indie band made up by Tom Collin, John Dale, Richard Liggins, Rachel Rostron. The band have recently recorded their debut E.P ‘More of a Statement than a Conversation’ at Snug studios in Derby.
Before the band got in contact with me, I had never heard of any of their tracks before or knew anything about the band. The first track I heard from the bands EP was ‘Lightning Never Strikes in the Same Place Twice’, I liked what I heard but I am always a bit weary of new bands as I tend to like the first few tracks I hear but then I hear the rest of the EP or Album and I’m disappointed. Luckily that was not the case with this band I was soon hooked onto their music as soon as I started to play it and I loved the whole EP.
My favourite track from the EP is ‘Romantic Resignation’, from its catchy riffs to its almighty chorus I was hooked. You know when you hear a song, just the once and it gets stuck in your head all day? Well that’s what happened to me after hearing this track for the first time, sometimes this is the worst thing to happen but, in this case, it wasn’t, I spent the rest of the day with is stuck in my head and wanting to hear more music from this band.
Considering the band are still recently new to the scene the EP itself is well produced, it has been put together great by the four-piece band, a perfect balance of guitar, bass, drums and vocals full of some great vocals and riffs. A great EP and a treat for your ears to listen to and I can’t wait to be able to hear these tracks being played live.
