Segarra are a 5-piece rock band made up by Oli Wade (Vocalist), Josh Holloway (Rhythm Guitarist), Luke Hooton (Lead Guitarist), Liam Cox (Bass) and Callum Friend (Drums) who have released a new single ‘Shine A Light (In Me)”.

Oli was kind enough to answer a few questions for us, here’s what he had to say.

Growing up who was your musical influences?

“John Lennon, anyday he’s the coolest man that’s ever lived. Always will be. Always thought alot of that John Lydon fella too. Anyone named John in fact”

Where do your idea for songs come from?

“My life mainly, growing up and being happy, or being sad. Whatever feels right in the moment, whether it eventually works into something or not”

Describe your music in three words.

“Dynamic, Wonderful & Enlightening”

Do you have any funny/interesting gig stories you can share with us?

“We played at a cricket ground once in front of a load of babies and they charged us for drinks, our lead guitarist spent the whole gig watching tennis. Bastards”

What would you say the music scene is like where you’re based?

“We are based between Nottingham & Derby, there are some great bands around here, we’ve met some cool people, and are sure to meet so many more on the potential little festivals we’ve thrown our name into next year. Lots of spirit and passion for music in places like Nottingham, its great”

You have a new Single out can you tell us about about it?

“It’s called Shine A Light (On Me). Its all about the pressures of living in a small town where nobody is special, this song is about the struggle of trying to emerge into yourself and be something that you never dreamed you would be. Its about believing in a life you dare not believe in, its about being free and I love that. It’s a great song”

Do you have a favourite venue you love to play?

“We’ve not played that many so far, so a favourite is yet to spring to mind”

Can you tell us about your music?

“It’s different to anything that’s around today, I think we have a chance to reach the people that love this music and hopefully they can get out of it what we do. It’s all about the idea of creating a great song that catches your spirit, your attitude or what you’re feeling you know? Its heavy fast paced, and we don’t sing with any silly accents. More coming soon also! Keep your ears open!”

Do you have any gigs coming up?

“We are playing a gig with a few other local bands at Rough Trade Nottingham in the new year, 28th Feb, which is Friday night, you’re welcome to come down! Plans for 2020? Gigs, gigs and gigs, we also have an EP coming out with some really exciting songs on, hopefully you all dig it and want to come see us”
