Dlore are an independent trio introducing who have recently released a new single called ‘IRON’.
Here’s what Dan had to say when we got a chance to ask a few questions.
How did you all meet?
“We met back in 2012 in Norwich when we formed dub 6-piece ‘The Piratones.’ After releasing 3 EPs and touring the UK, in 2017 we decided to part ways and start some new musical journeys. The other vocalist in The Piratones started another band called ‘Galli,’ who you should definitely check out- they’re amazing! I then started trying out some solo material and soon after got Mikey and Josh involved and coz we’d played in a band before, it was really easy and came together really naturally”
Who were your musical influences growing up?
“I was influenced by a lot of the soul records my parents would play when I was younger. Stuff like Etta James, Ray Charles, Carole King. I just got obsessed with their voices and how raw all the recordings were”
What made you want to be in a band?
“I don’t know really, I suppose I loved going to gigs and wanted to give it a go!”
What has been your best gig?
“I think our best gig was probably a hometown show we played last year at Norwich Arts Centre, with my sister Maya Law and our friends, ‘Galli.’ It was a proper lush night!”
Can you tell us a bit about your music?
“We’ve just released our single, ‘Iron,’ which we’re really buzzing about! It’s a kind of introduction to the sound of our debut EP which we’ll be releasing later this year”
Can you describe your music in 3 words.
“Some kinda soul”
What makes your band stand out from others?
“Even though there’s a tonne of artists making lush soul music, I think our vintage style of recording and our more ‘live sound’ sets us apart”
What are your plans for the rest of 2020?“Well, when all this blows over, we’re going to get straight into the studio to start recording the EP. We’re really excited to put out our first proper body of work! We’re also planning a really exciting tour for the Autumn, but it’s still in the planning stages so I can’t share the news yet”
