Queensway are a young energetic 3 piece punk rock band from London and Essex made up Bennie (Vocals/Rhythm guitar), Lucas (Bass) and Teddy (Drums).

I got a chance to ask some questions to Bennie and Teddy, here’s what they had to say.

How did you meet?

Bennie: “We met through different websites like find my band and we like the same music, Teddy was meant to be playing bass but now he’s playing drums so nothing really went to plan. We’ve only really known each other for about a year now”.

Who are your music influences?

Teddy: “A lot of the stuff when I was Metal stuff, a lot of Park way drive and devil wears Prada and then I got into pop punk, going to them shows made me want to be on the stage instead of standing down there and getting hit by people”

Bennie: “I grew up listening to a lot of 90’s, Brit pop and early 00’s indie and listening to bands like Fleetwood Mac”.

What made you want to start a band?

Bennie: “It just seem like a good laugh really”

What has been your favourite gig so far?

Bennie “I think we’d all agree either playing headlining the 100 club or we played a gig at a placed called St Moritz Club, that was unreal, you couldn’t move it was so packed”

Can you tell us a bit about the music you have released so far?

Bennie: “In the past year we have released three singles, the first one was ‘Queensway’ I guess it’s kind of like our theme tune, we then recorded ‘End Up Dead’ live we tried to record a lot of stuff but we were not happy with the sound so in the end we released a live version and then we released ‘Charity shop rock’. We could have released all our music, but we are all new to being in a serious band and I think we wanted to focus on the writing more before we stared to release a lot of singles”

Can you describe your music in 3 words?

Ted: “Hard, fast, quick”

Bennie: “Chaotic, loud, boring”

Bennie: “People always say something positive, but I might as well put myself down but when people hear it they might think differently”

What makes your band stand out from others?

Bennie: “Most of our mates are in bands, I think most bands are in competition were we just make it fun, I mean we do take it seriously but it’s more just fun for us then making money. We just love to be able to play live”

What are your plans for the rest of 2020?

Teddy: “We are doing a bit of recording in quarantine so we’ve been doing some tracks which hopefully we can release soon”

Bennie: “hopefully we will get an EP out within the next two months and hopefully go back on tour in November”

If Queensway had to be remembered for one thing apart form the music what would you like it to be?

Bennie: “Maybe get a song on an advert that would be good”

Teddy: “I like to be known for like mad gigs”
