A 25-year-old artist from Buckinghamshire, Nick Wilson’s sound hints at elements of Noah Gundersen’s raw intimacy, the mournful laments of early Bon Iver and LANY’s flair for melody. He’s earned countless international New Music Friday playlists on Spotify and has toured with Gabrielle Aplin and Dotan.
High profile fans are also becoming enamoured with his growing talents. Demi Lovato picked Nick as her favourite new artist during an Instagram live conversation with Sam Smith, while collaborators have included Martin Garrix, the Grammy-nominated Jonny Coffer (Beyoncé, Kodaline) plus Lewis Capaldi’s collaborators Nick Atkinson and Edd Holloway.
Nick also has a new single ‘Enough To Know You’ which will be available to listen to on Spotify and Apple Music.
Here is what Nick had to say when we got a chance to ask him some questions.
Who were your musical influences growing up?
“We always had a whole range of music playing at home, courtesy of two older sisters haha. Lots of Queen, Counting Crows, Mariah Carey, The Killers etc”.
What has been your best gig?
“I think one of my favourites has been Omeara in London. I supported my friends Tors, and it was just a perfect gig really. Such a gorgeous little venue, and one of the best crowds ever”.
Can you tell us a bit about your music?
“Enough To Know You is my new single, out 24th July, following my single Safe. I’m building to something later in the year but won’t say what just yet!”
Can you describe your music in 3 words?
“Cinematic, emotional songwriting”
What makes your music stand out?
“I like to think my voice helps me to stand out, and my lyrics. I love music that holds a real emotional core and so I try and show that in the lyrics of all my music”.
What are your plans for the rest of 2020?
“A lot more writing, hopefully some live shows (if we’re allowed!) and a whole bunch of new music”.
If you had to be remembered for one thing apart from your music what would you want it to be?
“Hard question haha! I think my ability to play the crazy frog tune with my cheeks? That’s gotta be something special right”.
Do you have any gig’s coming up?
“At the moment the next shows I’m doing are in October supporting the lovely Emily Burns. Next year I’m playing up and down the UK supporting Gabrielle Aplin, which I’m super excited about!”
