Matter of Mind are a young four-piece rock group from Stockport, a town that resides in Greater Manchester. The band have recorded two EP’s and have toured the UK extensively and parts of mainland Europe. They channel a classic, old school emo style with a modern twist and throw pop melodies into the pot that will have you singing your heart out.
Vocalist and guitarist J Lambert had this to say about the bands new single: “Oblivion is written about the crippling anxiety that unfortunately sometimes takes over me. I feel like everyone can relate to the feeling of wanting to ignore the world sometimes and recluse away, so I wanted to write a song with a somewhat brutal honesty, from my perspective, so that people can listen to it and know that they’re not alone, as cliche as that can sound. Music and lyrics especially are cathartic for me, so I hope this song can help someone in the way it helped”.
The track is everything you would expect to hear from the band, full of phenomenal instrumentals and vocals with the 00’s emo style sound with the bands own unique twist. The track instantly draws you in within seconds with its lyrics and sound.
The lyrics provided a catchy chorus which you will know off by heart once you’ve listened to it once. I love how relatable the lyrics are, especially at the moment in these strange times I feel we can all relate to them in one way or another.
This is a quality song which you can tell has been put together with a lot of care and attention to detail. Another brilliant track to add to an already impressive set list and a track which will no doubt go down well with the fans when they play it live. A refreshing sound from a band who are not afraid to sound different, I’ve been a fan of this band for a while now and every single they release they somehow become better.
