Queensway are an indie punk rock band from Essex crafting a mix of heavy guitars and electronic music to create a blend of libertines meets gorillaz. Queensway are a self-sufficient band producing and recording their music themselves along with making all the music videos, they live by a DIY attitude.

Their latest release “the night life ep“ has been inspired from experiences over the last couple year from nights out to early morning train journeys to work. And has been recorded and mixed by the band in their secret Essex hq. On a diet of lack of sleep and personal body weights of mini cheddars.

The ep starts with a poem written by 16 year old Bennie about his views on the people on trains from early mornings to the tussle and bustle of nightlife in London. It’s also like written as a protest against tfl.

Fairy tale of a hard man is written about a character called Danny and follows his tragic life and wicked ways. Danny is that everyday lowlife we all know who kicks off outside a McDonald’s at 3am.

The song is wrapped around an infectious bass line written by Lucas.

The portrayal of this character is helped by the DIY music video made by the band featuring their fans. on a cold evening in early October.

This EP will no doubt get you up onto your feet and dancing around like you was at one of the band’s gigs. The tracks on the EP are guaranteed to get the crowd dancing around and singling along word for word. I feel it’s one of them EP’s that you have to listen to it with your volume turned up to the max to fully appreciate it.

Each single which is full of energy and some catchy lyrics and great vocals and you can tell each single has been put together really well and shows off the bands unique sound. If I had to pick a favourite I would have to say ‘Nightlife’, I feel we can all relate to the lyrics of that track in one way or another, it just grabbed my attention from the very beginning of the track and I just love the sound.

An exciting EP from a young, talented band who I can see going far if they continue to create memorable track like the ones on this incredible EP.
