London based artist/musician Clive B Bossa was on a surf trip to the northern beaches of Brazil in 2012 where he fell in love with the sound of Bossa Nova. As a guitarist and percussionist he was completely hooked and Clive has found himself returning to the beaches of Jericoacoara in Ceara state as often as possible so that he could play with the incredible musicians that are attracted to this spot. By 2015 he was regularly getting asked to play in some of the clubs and bars during his trips. Back in London Clive started to write and perform some of his own original Brazilian inspired material and the Bossa Bandits were born.
Initially the Bossa Bandits were a duo occasionally being joined by percussionist friends. Often invited to play early spots on bigger shows, things changed when Clive met up with Phil Ramocon in 2015. Phil, a successful musician and songwriter in his own right with hits and a Grammy to his name was so taken by these songs that he enthusiastically encouraged the Bossa Bandits….sitting in whenever possible himself on keyboards and backing vocals, always bringing other established artists to listen.
Fast forward to 2020 and after a few years of live shows but no thoughts to record these crowd pleasing songs everything came to a COVID- halt! It seemed there would be no better response to the lockdown of live music than to get into the studio and finally record these gems. Indeed we deliberately left our masks in shot so the work can be put into context.
The Memories are Kind is the first track to be release by British Latin-Crossover band Bossa Bandits and previews from their forthcoming Album ‘All true stories’ and is a reflective tale of love & loss.
The band bring a summery vibe with their unique sound which combines sax, guitar with some soothing vocals. The whole track screams summer vibes, I could imagine listening to this track being played lived at a festival in a field in the middle of nowhere.
The whole track flows so well, from the melody to the lyrics there is nothing I can fault. If you’re not already hooked by the sound the lyrics will definitely capture your attention, I feel they are relatable and tell a story so beautifully.
This infectious single is an absolute joy to listen to from beginning to end, it’s safe to say I was impressed!
