Fresh off the back of their previous single, “Stationary Life”, which gained praise from tastemakers such as Phonograph Me, CSGM Blog, The Revue, and We All Want Someone To Shout For – as well as being selected as one of the top-15 songs in the ‘Eclectic Picks’ by the team – the Newcastle-based quintet, Palma Louca, release new single “Us And Them”, which is now available to stream on all music platforms.
Joe (singer & guitarist) says “Our motivation behind this track stemmed from becoming tired of clichéd love songs. We wanted to engage the listener with a dark twist. We also enjoyed playing with perspectives, switching from character to character and then narrator. Instrumentally, we wanted to keep the song reasonably sparse to allow the vocals to be more impactful, focusing on a lot of deeper, bass driven elements to help project the darker narrative. Compared to a lot of our previous tracks, lyrics held more weight in directing the musical choices throughout.”.
Despite the track being on the slower side for the most part, the soft vocals and catchy sound will have you tapping along instantly. The single maintains its laid-back sound throughout but manages to build on the sound which give it that extra kick to really stand out and grab the listeners full attention.
The carefully chosen hooks, vocals, combined with vocals harmonies create such an exciting song which you are guaranteed to fall in love with. The gripping guitar riffs and piano parts finish the track off perfectly towards the end and for me gives it that extra boost to make this an instantly memorable track.
This well-produced track shows off Palma Louca talents and for me shows they are an interesting band to watch out for, I love how they have experimented with sounds and created something so catchy and unique.
This was the first track I have heard from this talented band, it’s safe to say I am a fan! I quickly added this amazing track to my playlist and fell in love with the band’s sound which is so refreshing to hear. Go and check this track out for yourself!
