The Spanish musician and producer Club Mango today shares his debut track ‘One You Need’. It’s an international affair which features the Dominican / Venezuelan rapper Vadi alongside British / Nigerian singer-songwriter JAEL.
Here’s what Dan had to say when we got a chance to ask him some questions.
Who were your musical influences growing up?
“I have been influenced by quite a wide range of music and genres. I started playing the violin and studying classical music when I was 3 years old and I completed the studies when I turned 18. As a teenager I started listening to lots of American punk, rock and metal bands like System of A Down, Slipknot, Avenged Sevenfold, Green Day, Blink 182, Sum 41, Metallica, etc. Then I discovered electronic music with Skrillex, Zedd, Avicii, Martin Garrix”.
Tell us about your new single One You Need and how it came about?
“One You Need is Club Mango’s first single. It’s really about some of the things that I and many people love, like summery and clubby vibes, Latin American rhythms, melodies to sing and dance to, etc. It all started in December 2020 in cold London, inspired by the wish to be partying and dancing on any beach by the Caribbean sea; just having a great time and not worrying about anything else”.
You can hear the Latin American influences in the track – tell us more about that…
“I’ve always loved the Latin American culture, especially its music. I’m very attached to this culture as my partner is Venezuelan and I really love the good vibes that the rhythms and melodies transmit. Some of these characteristic rhythms are super simple but as soon as you hear them it seems like they are forcing your body to dance to them and get into a good mood. When I listen to Latin American music, I have a feeling of fun and joy and that is what I wanted to portray on “One You Need”.
Can you describe your music in 3 words?
“Exciting, vibey, uplifting”.
What are your plans for the rest of 2021?
“There’s more music coming out in the following months for sure. Another single will follow One You Need then into the debut EP! So keep an eye out!”.
If you had to be remembered for one thing apart from your music what would you want it to be?
“For having contributed with something positive – even if it’s a little thing – to anyone with whom I have come across or interacted with”.
If you could collaborate with one other artist who would it be?
“I’d love to collaborate with as many artists as possible as I believe that would help me grow as an artist and develop my music, but If I had to pick one today, I’d choose Bad Bunny”.
