Rich Lown is a singer/songwriter from the south coast of England. Fusing folk and rock with his unique voice Rich Lown is bringing freshness and honesty to music. Much of his music is a moment of catharsis caught in song through an intuitive process of song writing. It’s natural, catchy and comes from within, proving that songs can be popular and still be soulful.
Rich has received an increasing number of music accolades over the years with various festivals under his belt, a tour of 15 prestigious venues with MBE and Brit Award nominee Joan Armatrading, finishing in the top 10 in the country for the UK’s biggest unsigned solo artist talent search ‘Open Mic UK‘, various talent competition crowns including ‘Rock The House’ (a competition held by MP’s at the houses of parliament), TV and film features including a number of episodes of Hollyoaks, a national song writing finalist, a top 20 iTunes album within his genre, support slots with Boyzone and an ‘Unsigned Music Awards’ nomination for ‘Best Solo Male’ in the country’s first televised unsigned music awards. Most recently, Rich has been championed by artists such as Gavin Rossdale and Hanson after releasing covers of their songs during lockdown, with the latter sharing his version of ‘A Song to Sing’ across their social media channels. After releasing two versions of a brand new single, Rich is back with aplomb showing off his versatility in some of his strongest work yet and cementing his reputation as one of the UK’s finest independent talents.”
Place Where I Call Home; the latest double single from Rich Lown. Two versions of the same song, one on guitar and one on piano, this is one of Rich’s strongest songs yet and well worth the wait. A song written about making a fresh start and the feelings and emotions that come with facing such a challenge, Rich’s music is often very personal, relatable and emotive and this one does not fail to deliver. As one listener commented after Music Crowns premiered the music video to the piano version ‘Everyone wants a place where they call home, so relatable and beautiful!’.
It’s not often I come across a single that actually gave me the shivers within the first 30 seconds of listening to it, especially from an artist I have not heard about before. The unique sound if this incredible single had my full attention, there was something about the sound that draws you in and which gives this track.
The acoustic guitars and Rich’s voice work so well together and give this single a chilled and slightly haunting sound. The combination of instrumentals vocals is spot on and for me are well placed.
It’s refreshing to hear a single that has a lot of different features that work so well together. The single has everything you’d want to hear and more! It will awaken every hair on the back of your neck. I feel this is a single listeners will be able to connect with straight away and will love.
