Not many rappers grow up on a farm. But Norway’s biggest breaking talent, 21-year-old Ash Olsen, isn’t your average rapper. Spinning hypnotic rhymes inspired by her life in rural Norway with the bravado of an American street rapper, she’s ready to graduate from her bedroom to the big stage.
Here’s what Ash had to say when we got the chance to ask her some questions.
Who were your musical influences growing up and where do you get your inspiration from when writing songs?
“The ones who had the most influence on me were probably xxxtentacion and juicewrld! And I get My inspiration from just life in general, everything from the good to the bad”.
Tell us about your new single DAT THING LIKE ME..
“It’s not really about anything specific but The song was very fun to make, it was just me and my producer messing around and I hopped on the mic and just freestyled the hook and that’s when we had it”.
What can you tell us about the making of your new EP?
“I guess there is no theme as it is pretty versatile but I guess with this EP I been on the clubby vibe rapping for the most part”.
Describe your music in 3 words.
“Bouncy, versatile and idgaf vibes”
If you could collaborate with any other artist – who would that be?
“Right now probably The kid Laroi”.
What’s the most important thing you’ve learnt so far in the music industry?
“That nobody got your back unless they make enough money on you”.
If you had to be remembered for one thing apart from your music what would you want it to be?
“That I’m a certified animal lover”.
What are you hopes and dreams for 2022?
“I wanna tour!!!”
