We are Pressure from Sweden. We are doing what we call Story Metal, it’s kind of a subgenre of Heavy metal but we found out that we didn’t really fit in anywhere so we actually invented our own genre and style.

Pressure is all about combining modern storytelling with hard rock/metal music to really give our listener a new kind of experience. When you come to a Pressure show you will not only hear some great songs, you will also be experiencing the stories that we are telling with a lot of your different senses.

Our songs come from our own experiences and are always connected to true stories that we have been in ourselves or been very close to. Because how could you be a good storyteller and tell tales about life if you have not dared to experienced life to its fullest?

How did you all meet?

Our current line-up was established 2022, but Pressure has been around since 2018. We have met through different platforms and connections. During the pandemic we were forced to do auditions over the net, that’s where we found Olli Violet, one of our singers. We have embraced the way of working online but we prefer to be together of course.

Who were your musical influences growing up?

Me personally had a lot of influences. I started to play guitar really early, around 6 years old. I would say that my first influences were my parents and later on my awesome guitar teachers. I have always been trying to listen to different music and are not stuck on a certain band or guitar player. I love good music and find great influences all over the place.

What made you want to be in a band?

Music is my life and I cannot imagine it without being in the family that a band really is to me. Nothing really made me want it. I just have been in bands for all my life, and I need it. It’s my haven, my family and my passion.

What has been your best gig?

It’s hard to rank them. But one of the best gigs I have done was when I came to a small Swedish village to play at a birthday party with a cover/party. When we came to the place there were two locals actually building the stage for us in a barn. It was a fantastic crowd to play!

Can you tell us a bit about your music?

Our songs are always story based. We almost always start with a lyric or a mood to and then write the music around that. That’s why our music is very diverse, and we explore many genres and styles of music. Our latest release is called “Sacramental Anger” It’s a Halloween song. We all want to be loved, but it would be much easier if we could add a little magic to achieve this. “Sacramental Anger” is about all-consuming love, but different love: unstoppable, inescapable, ruthless, frightening. When our desires intoxicate the mind and we go ahead ignoring all obstacles. This song tells a story of a solitary witch who can bend anyone to her will. Slowly but surely, she lures into the depths of a mystical forest, enchants with a gentle lullaby. And there will be no chance to wake up from this hypnosis. Will you be able to resist her spell?”

Describe your music in 3 words.

Diverse, melodic, storybased

What makes your band stand out from others?

I would say the whole experience and that we combine storytelling and music on a new level. The thing to take a mood or a lyric and then choose the music that best help tell the story is unique.

What are your plans for the rest of 2022?

We have many plans, we are still recording a lot and then we are planning a very special collaboration this Christmas. I cannot tell you more right now but stay tuned and check out our website and socials for this.

If your band had to be remembered for one thing apart from your music, what would you want it to be?

I would love for our new genre, Story Metal to go viral and for other bands to start doing what we do. That would be an awesome legacy to leave behind.

Any gig’s coming up?

As for now we are recording. We have a couple of livestreams coming up but will start to book again after the recordings are done.
