How did you all meet?

Charles (CKRAFT’s bandleader): Hi there, thanks for having us today! I met most of these lovely people in Paris’ national conservatory (CNSM) where we were studying at the same time, except William our drummer who was at Berklee. I had met him earlier in my formative years, in a conservatoire in Metz (eastern France) and, already back then, he struck me as someone who could just play anything. Combining him with my Conservatoire friends created the magic that I was looking for to execute this music!

Who were your musical influences growing up?

Charles: I grew up listening to metal, it was the only music that would really make sense to me as a teenager. I’d spend hours listening to KoRn, Slipknot, and especially Gojira. Their album “The Link” really changed my perception of music and I still listen to it as an adult with the same passion and awe. Later in my formative years, I saw a jazz big band play live and I was blown away by the exuberant freedom that this music was projecting from the stage. Sooner or later I had to blend these genres!

What made you want to be in a band?

Charles: Well I’ve had the Jazz and Metal ideas in my head for quite a long time, but I only found the right people to execute them around 2020. That, and the fact that COVID completely wiped out my agenda and I finally had time to write my music properly.

What has been your best gig?

Charles: I would say it was last week, we produced our own concert in Paris in a cool venue called “La Boule Noire”. Despite that we’re not a renown band and that we played on a Monday evening, we managed to have a packed venue and a super cheerful audience. Best concert so far, and it’s even more satisfying that we worked really hard on making it happened, went into Paris streets to stick our posters, posted on socials every day, and so on!

Can you tell us a bit about your music?

Charles: We’ve been doing quite a few concerts this year, with a fall tour that started in Germany and took part mostly in France. We hope to play more abroad next year but for now things are still being discussed so infos are classified haha

When confirmed, all the infos appear on our social medias, it’s the best way to stay updated on the band’s latest news!

Describe your music in 3 words.

Charles: “Epic Discordant Vision” 😉

What makes your band stand out from others?

Charles: I think you never heard anything like that, truly. A metal band that features tenor sax and accordion with electronic sensors… Can you even picture it when I put it like this? Hahaha

What are your plans for the rest of 2022?

Charles: I’m starting to write new tunes, maybe we’ll drop a new album in 2024, maybe not! In any case, we’ll start working on the new music next year, while we’re still doing gigs with the music from the first album “Epic Discordant Vision”. Maybe we’ll play some of the new tunes on stage soon! Follow us to find out!

If your band had to be remembered for one thing apart from your music what would you want it to be?

Charles: Finding these people and creating what is now a little family! We had a few successful concerts but the greatest achievement, I think, is to manage to be happily together on the road. I think people can feel it when they meet us and I hope that it will last for many years!

Any gig’s coming up?

Charles: few gigs in France mostly, but we’re working to expand to the neighbouring countries! No dates fixed yet, but follow us on the social medias to be updated! Thanks again for having us today, and keep on sharing young Metal bands work, it really means the world to us!
