The end of 2019 is days away, what a year 2019 has been, a year full of fantastic music and gigs from some talented bands. I have been to some brilliant gigs this year and I have interviewed some great bands, as well as listening to the bands I’ve known about for a while I’ve also found some great bands this year. I’ve managed to choose my top 10 bands of 2019, it’s been hard to choose but I’ve managed to narrow it down and believe me when I say I’ve spent hours on this list but finally I have my top 10 bands of 2019.

Kioko

A new band for the list! I first found out about this band back in May when I was lucky enough to get a chance to see these guys live whilst they supported UB40 on their gig at De Montfort Hall in Leicester. I won’t lie before the gig I had never heard of Kioko but I left the gig knowing who they were. This band isn’t the sort of music I usually listen to but there is something about this band I can’t help but love. They make every gig fun to watch and they get the crowd dancing along, from their energy on stage to their song writing there is nothing I can fault about this band.

Gazelle

I have known about this band for a few years and they also featured in the list for the last 2 years, so they must be good to be back again in this year’s list. They are a talented band that are not afraid to be different, to me there is no other band around that sound like these. This band have been busy this year with touring and releasing their EP ‘Young Blood’ which if you haven’t heard you need to check it out. This band have been brilliant this year and I can see 2020 being another great year for this band. I know they have a young fan who is just a little too young to go and see them play live but is counting down the days until his dad say’s he can go to see them live.

The Ruffs

A band I have known about for a few years now, they are a great band to watch play live. Their music is fun, exciting and fresh and was once described by a friend of mine as ‘Loud as fuck!’. They are a band to keep an eye out for. Another band that I know has a fan who’s a little too young to see this band play live but is forever playing their music. Let’s see what 2020 brings for this brilliant band.

Those Howlin’ Sounds

A talented four-piece band from Nottingham who I only found out about last year, you need the volume turned up to the max to really enjoy listening to their music. I’m looking forwards to seeing what this band have planned for 2020, hopefully it will involve a lot more gigs and maybe a new song or two.

BINES

A band that are bringing back great guitar music and the Brit pop sound with a modern twist. They have released a few EP’s this year including their debut EP ‘The Mill’. A band I am a big fan of and hopefully 2020 will be another great year for this band and will bring a few more EP’s from this band as well as some more gigs.

Cucamaras

A band I found out about this year, their music is fun and exciting, each track has been recorded well and shows some great instrumental talent from all the band members as well as some fantastic vocals. A refreshing sound, these are a band to keep an eye out for and one I can only see good things happening if they keep making great tracks. Hopefully this band will be touring more around the UK in 2020 as well as releasing more music, a band to watch out for in 2020.

BUTE

A band I instantly liked from the first few seconds of hearing their music, I can’t help but tap along to the beat, their music has that sound to it that you know would get a crowd dancing along. They are a band who have shown they are not afraid to try something new! A great bunch of lads with a lot of talent, hopefully 2020 will bring more great music from this band.

The Bagatelles

Back in February this year I discovered this band and I liked what I heard, every track from their debut EP ‘More of a Statement than a Conversation’ was brilliant and I couldn’t fault anything, I quickly became hooked to the whole EP and the sound of the band. The first track I heard from the band’s EP was ‘Lightning Never Strikes in the Same Place Twice’, I liked what I heard. I was soon hooked onto their music, a talented and exciting band to keep an eye out for in 2020.

The Trusted

Another band I found this year, their single ‘Wild Love’ was the first track I had heard from this band and I was not disappointed with what I heard. I was hooked from the first few seconds of listening to this track and I was left wanting to hear more from this band. They have a lot of talent and are a great bunch of lads and hopefully I will get the chance to see them play live in 2020.

Segarra

Having only recently finding out about this band I was looking forward to hearing the bands new single. When finding a new band to listen to I like to go and listen to their music without any expectations and just listen to how well it’s been made and let’s put it this way, this single didn’t disappoint. A recently new band to the scene but they are proving they have a talent for song writing and performing live. If they keep releasing great singles, EP’s and keep gigging I can see 2020 being a good year for this band.
