After exceeding 40 million streams as featured vocalist on Lost Frequencies’ ‘Recognise’, Flynn’s recent solo track ‘One Of Us’ ignited his solo career. It hit fifteen New Music Friday playlists worldwide, fired up Ireland’s airplay charts and instigated a new wave of attention for the young musician.

Flynn’s momentum is now set to shift up another gear as he shares the follow-up ‘B-Side’. The song is enticingly both contemporary and classic: feelgood alt-pop beats and rhythms placing it firmly in 2020, while Flynn’s soulful vocal and some Stax-inspired brass give it a timeless quality. It’s an uplifting sound for a lovelorn theme but ultimately, it’s a defiant statement: a deceptive lover is no loss, so find the strength to move on.

Who were your musical influences growing up?

“Eminem, bill Withers, Amy Winehouse, Pharell Williams”

What has been your best gig?

“Probably Indiependence Festival (a music festival in Cork) I played the main stage and the turn out was amazing! I was expecting like 10 people!”

Can you tell us a bit about your music?

“I use my music as a form of expression I guess. I write about personal experiences and all the trials and tribulations of my every day life. My debut EP is coming soon, every song is written from the heart and I honestly can’t wait to share all the stories with you all”.

Can you describe your music in 3 words?

“Honest, Real, Powerful”.

What makes your music stand out?

“I don’t know really, maybe it’s just the vulnerability of it. I write music that I think people will be able to relate to and I think that really resonates with people”.

What are your plans for the rest of 2020?

“I’m going to write lots of new music and learn to play the piano, that’s been on my list of things to do for ages now, so I’m going to crack on with that!”

If your band had to be remembered for one thing apart from your music what would you want it to be?

“That I like to have a laugh. I don’t like to take life too seriously, it’s way too short!”

Any gig’s coming up?

“Unfortunately not, but as soon as things kick off again I’ll be performing for sure!”
