Who were your musical influences growing up?

“The Beatles, Coldplay, Avril, Aretha Franklin, Moby, everything on The OC soundtrack, Portishead, Bright Eyes, I could go forever”.

Your new single ‘Hey’ is stunning and really moving dealing with topics of grief, what can you tell us about the writing process and how the song came about?

“Yeah, there’s no adequate words to describe my feelings on grief and I know that even by trying I’ll fall short. But I guess I was reaching for hope. I had lost my younger cousin and I was trying to get inside his head. I was trying to connect with him again”.

What can you tell us about your new EP ‘Player’ out on the 28th October.

“That I’m just really proud of it. I was kind of freaked out by the idea of putting myself out there like this. About going it alone. But I’m having so much fun and yeah, it feels right”.

Describe your music in 3 words

“Raw. Smiling. Me”.

If you could collaborate with any other artist – who would that be?

“Nick Cave?”

What are the key things that impact your songwriting?

“I think it’s the stuff that is just out of reach. Like the bittersweet intangible life stuff. It’s the happy/sad thing”.

If you had to be remembered for one thing apart from your music what would you want it to be?

“I dunno. Sometimes I think about cycling professionally. I wouldn’t even necessarily need to be winning. I just think a Phoebe Go jersey would be really cute”.
